Student's Recreation @ LSBC
When you are not busy studying how are you going to spend your time? Well, there's a wealth of entertainments and recreations available at and nearby the college that are popular with students from the East London area. There are many regular events from quizzes and karaoke to disco and DJ evenings available from the local pubs and restaurants.
Food, entertainment, accommodation, and other day-to-day costs are likely to be lower in this part of the city than in many other parts of London. As a student you will also get lots of concessions and discounts (normally 10 to 15%) on everything from cinema tickets to haircuts.
Restaurants:
The college is close to the famous Brick Lane, which is an excellent place to find good and cheap Indian curry restaurants. At the junction with Hanbury Street, there's a cluster of particularly excellent restaurants, offering Halal and vegetarian food in an excellent multicultural atmosphere.
Shopping
Whitechapel Market (Open daily)
A multi-cultural area close to the college, the Whitechapel market opposite the famous Royal London Hospital is a good place to find any thing and everything needed by a student at affordable prices.
Brick Lane Market (Sundays from 8am till 1pm ) is a great place to head to find any thing on your shopping list! Located to the north of the railway bridge, close to the college it spreads out into a few block wide areas. A huge variety of stuff can be found on sale; Halal meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, cheap and good electrical goods, tools and household essentials; bikes, jewellery and clothes, anything can be found here, but the prices are unbelievable for one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Culture
The Brick Lane Festival is an annual event held in September, focusing on the multicultural aspects the neighbourhood has to offer. Thus you'll find a craft market, live music, stilt walkers, fun fair rides and a carnival procession.
The college is close to a few of London's most important places of worships. Churches, Mosques, Hindu temples, Sikh Gurdwaras and Buddhist temples are all within a couple of minutes walk to 15 minutes tube journey from the college.
